The ultimate Western crossover event

ultimate western movie crossover

I alluded to this back in the “Expendables” post I wrote for the League a while back, but I just can’t help it, I love a good Western.

So, the crossover I’d love to see would have to begin with the Earp brothers, Wyatt, Virgil, and Morgan, and of course Doc Holliday–one of the greatest Western characters ever to hit the big screen (“I’m your huckleberry”). The Earps have become fairly wealthy by running their own Faro game out of the town’s largest saloon, owned by Al Swearengen.

For some reason, Ben Wade’s train ended up in Tombstone rather than Yuma, and soon after connecting with some old friends, he is up to his old tricks.

Seth Bullock, the new sheriff of Tombstone, rounds up a posse to take down Wade’s gang. Luckily for him, Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch arrived in town not too long ago, looking for work. The Earp brothers and Doc join them, and on their way out of town, they make one last stop at a cabin in the middle of the prairie, to see if an aged Josey Wales is up for one more ride.

I’m not gonna lie. This is awesome. We talked about a Western Expendables on Nerd Lunch a while back. I’m in full agreement. And I LOVE that you included Josey Wales. Really, really awesome, Brian.

I would have still fit Billy the Kid in there somewhere.

Hmmm, would you have Emilio Estevez’s or Michael J. Fox’s Billy the Kid? 😉

whoa, whoa, whoa. He was “Billy the Kid” in a little-known movie called Back to the Future 3.

If you Google “billy the kid back to the future” your site comes up third. I’ll let it pass since it’s your birthday. 😉

Okay, wiping the egg off my face now. I swear i thought he called himself Billy the Kid in that movie, but the correct answer is: Clint Eastwood. I humbly bow down to the BTTF master.

Yeah, I’m surprised how often my site pops up in Google especially when you search for Back to the Future or time travel.

Or “awesome blog”. I actually come up second for that.

Ha! Ed Harris does look a little out of place in that picture, doesn’t he?

You could expand it to a two part or three part mini-range war of sorts as in addition to Wade being sprung, you also have the greedy rancher faction, the railroad faction, the “Sons of the Cowboys” faction, the Apache factionand a few more that could include such notables as Matthew Quigley, Marsden’s brother (Quigley Down Under), Charlie Postlewaite, Boss, (Open Range), Blackjack Britton, Calvin Guthrie (bad guys from Purgatory) , Geronimo (Geronimo), Carver, Gideon, & Hayes (Seraphim Falls), Jake Lonergan(Cowboys and Aliens), Helen, Herod, Cort, the Kid, Ace Hanlon(The Quick and the Dead) and John Reid (The Lone Ranger) just to name a few.
