I haven’t bought a Star Wars figure since the original trilogy figures hit the shelves when I was a kid, but the size and level of detail on the Star Wars Black 6″ figures broke this camel’s back. I’ve been limiting myself to only figures that appeared in A New Hope, because I had to stop somewhere — but of course that resolve melted once Boba Fett hit the scene.
Look out, Han!
Surprisingly, Greedo is one of the best figures so far!
I’ve been wanting to photograph these figures ever since I first saw them. The Vader and Stormtrooper are awesome!
These 6″ figures really are fun to photograph, but Han and Chewie aren’t too photogenic — it’s that glossy paint. I would have preferred to see these treated with a duller paint that doesn’t reflect the light too much, but I can’t complain too loudly.
Now, when are we going to see a New Hope Luke and Leia? Oh, and I want a Tusken Raider, pronto!

Well, in case it helps, the Star Wars A New Hope Special Edition helps validate your Boba Fett purchase. He was in the tail end of the scene with the awful CGI Jabba.

I bought series 1 – 3 of the 6″ Black line, but it was always such a pain in the ass to find them. I finally got fed up with it during the 4th series, and just offloaded all of them on ebay. I think I got like $220.00 for them all.

It helps that I don’t have a “GOTTA GET’EM ALL!” approach to these, because seeing Han and Leia peg warming in every store has gotten old.

Brian, you build the coolest toy dioramas! That picture of Vader and Storm Trooper is so real!!!
Brian says
Thanks Mason! I only have a couple of “dioramas” but I swap in different pieces and lighting to make it look a little different.

Great pics! I’ve been very choosy with this line due to the size. So far I only have Boba (which I picked up the same day I found yours, ha!). Overall, I dig it but a little annoyed I can’t quite get him to hold his signature gun.
Brian says
Yep, there’s a reason why I have him holding his pistol in the photo and not the rifle. 😉 These figures can be a little difficult to pose. They feel like they’re going to break if I push them too far, but no damages so far, other than the red beam of Darth Vader’s light saber flinging out of the handle and getting lost under the couch.

It’s a sad day indeed when Greedo is the best figure, but I think you’re right on the money. I managed to pick up a couple of the Prototype armor Boba Fetts, and it’s almost shameful how restricted the leg articulation is on that figure. I also can’t believe they didn’t include a cloak with the Jedi Luke Skywalker. It’s one of the more iconic pieces of that outfit, and the figure just looks too plain without it.
Still, with all my nitpicks about the line, I’d love to get my hands on a Darth Vader. He’s still one of my favorite characters of the entire Star Wars franchise, and he makes a great looking figure.

I was limiting myself to only the Stormtroopers. Then the white Boba Fett came out. I gotta agree, the leg restriction makes him almost unusable. And same problem with the blaster, it’s a pain to have him hold it. Haven’t photographed him yet but here are some of Stormmies from my Instagram account.

Nice! I can only dream of getting multiples of the stormtroopers. You can bet I’ll buy them whenever I find one, but still haven’t come across one in the wild — had to get mine from a reseller.
