As proof that there are collectors out there with very deep pockets, I did a quick search to see the most expensive action figures that recently sold on eBay. Items that sold with a “Buy It Now” price or the items that were obviously fraudulent were not included. Whether or not the buyers went through with the sale is unknown, but the items that made it to the list had multiple bids and seemed legitimate. All of these sales took place in June and July of 2014. You can click on the titles to go to the actual auction listing on eBay.

I see a trend here. I could not imagine buying a toy for thousands of dollars!
Brian says
I’m with you. I see that amount paid for the Kleb Zellock figure and think of all the bills I could pay with that amount, but for some people, money really is no object when it comes to collecting. (I’m not one of those people!)
😉
Tim L says
Maybe not, but I’d like to imagine selling one for thousands of dollars!
Holy smokes.
john gaither says
Well this shows how not only deep collectors pockets are but how hardcore Star Wars fans are too.
Brian says
Absolutely. Are there any more hardcore collectors than Star Wars fans?
Kal says
Star Wars toys are so over rated for what you get in return for your investment. I hate that it makes it crazy for a regular person to amass a great Star Wars collection.
The Rebel says
Wow…8 out of 10 are Star Wars stuff! That just proves how insane it can be to be a hard core SW collector. I am too….but I don’t think I’ll ever cross the $500 line for a single item, no matter how rare it could be, Heck I’m even whining how them 1/6 figures are getting pricier by the day…..LOL.
Grey Endres says
Brian, it sounds like an assignment for the league. How much would you pay and for what item versus how much you have paid and for one item.
Brian says
Hmm, i like that. That would require a bit of thought for me. 😉
George (GI Jigsaw) says
My favorite part (and most depressing part) of Ebay shopping is seeing the old clearance sticker price on an item that now sells for hundreds. I remember buying some vintage Kenner Indiana Jones sets that had clearance stickers for under $2. Sniff sniff.
Brian says
No kidding. Last year, I bought a ton of Jurassic Park toys and they all had bargain bin markdown stickers on them.
Yelinna says
The He Man figure is sold!
I bought a ton of Jurassic Park figures some years ago too. Happily they are cheap when loose (I prefer loose figures because I want them for playing).
If the deep of our pockets is a measure of our wealth, then I have no pockets!!
