The League has spoken: we’re all just a bunch of crybabies

league of extraordinary bloggers logo It was a sad, sad week for the League. This week, the League was asked what moments in pop culture history bring them to tears, and we confirmed that we’re all a bunch of crybabies (and I thought it was just me!).

  • Someone needs to tell TL at Flashlights are Something You Eat that there’s no crying in baseball.
  • Shezcrafti wells up with sorrow in the Swamp of Sadness.
  • It takes an artsy Academy award winning short film to get Bubba Shelby blubberin’.
  • The Green Plastic Squirtgun got me reaching for the hankie with his picks.
  • The Man Who Stares at Toys cries as often as I do–he even cries at video games!
  • Rediscover the 80’s brings up  two of the most emotionally-packed scenes from the 80’s.
  • Heath Ledger brings My Eidetic Memory to tears, but not it’s not the movie you might think.
  • Rob at Action Figure Chat gets a little animated when he gets emotional.
  • Jamie at Whatever I Think Of reminds us all about that Sarah McLachlan commercial.
  • Ashley at Life with Fandom cries over a dying robot.
  • Carl and Ellie always bring Tommy at Tophat Sasquatch to tears.
  • Brian is anything but Cool & Collected after watching movies about fathers and sons.
  • Adamotomy says he needs to be liquored up before he cries at the movies. Riiight.
  • Dex cried when he saw a Star Wars movie — and it wasn’t the prequels!
  • Apparently, Q the Adult is one of the few League members who reads.
  • Iok at That Figures likes a good speech or two.
  • Nate at Thought Bubbles has a tear-jerking top five list.
  • ….and finally, Kevin at Team Hellions just makes the cut with his two tear-inducing moments.

Around the League

Some other things that caught my eye this week on League member’s sites:

  • TL really loves those boy bands.
  • Eric shows off the new LEGO Batman themed sets revealed at SDCC.
  • Brother Midnight finds a Mr. Machine on the side of the road!
  • The Man Who Stares at Toys talks about some of his favorite childhood commercials.
  • Jason posted some truly awesome 80’s art by Ian Glaubinger.
  • Action Figure Chat shows off the new NECA toys unveiled at SDCC.
  • Tommy got a package in the mail from yours truly.
  • Toy Hunter is coming soon, and Brian shows off the super cool press kit.
  • Dex writes about his fond memories of Tron.

Housekeeping

Remember, to stay a League member in good standing, you should add some links to your fellow League members in your post to help spread the love. I’ll post the new topic later today!

Don’t forget, if you sign up for the Cool & Collected email newsletter, you will get a reminder on Mondays about the League topics and results.

If you’re playing along at home and want to join the League, all you need is a love of pop culture and a blog. Come join the fun, and tell your friends!
