This week, the League of Extraordinary Bloggers was asked to post their TV or movie watch lists. I started retyping the list of movies on my Netflix account before it dawned on me that there had to be an easier way. Voila! Screen capture!
Obviously, I’ve seen some of these movies, and may never get around to watching some of the others, but the whole idea of a watch list is that it’s a place to put things that you might some day be in the mood to plunk down on the couch for two hours and finally watch. I’ve been down with a nasty cold for over a week now and spent the long snowy weekend watching a ton of movies. My illness-induced movie marathon included the Lord of the Rings extended cut trilogy, Sergio Leone’s Clint Eastwood trilogy, Unbreakable, Willow, Red Dawn, Goodfellas, and Terminator 2. As you can see, I waste no time when it comes to time off.
I really enjoy mining Netflix for the diamonds in the dust like Trollhunter, Ip Man, or Tomorrow, When the War Began. Okay, these might not be great movies, but they’re definitely worth two hours of your time. Looking at my list, the kinds of movies I enjoy is fairly obvious. Have you found a Netflix gem that I should check out?

A few other folks from the League have posted their watch lists, so head over to the Nerd Nook and Geek Show Ink to see what they’re watching!

I see you have Orange is the New Black on your list, highly suggest watching that one when you can. Great series AND you can watch them all without waiting! Thanks Netflix, you rock.
Also I hope you watched the original Red Dawn and not the remake. The remake was one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
Brian says
Heard nothing but good stuff about Orange is the New Black, so i’m definitely looking forward to that one.
The original Red Dawn is one of my all-time favorite movies and I had VERY low regard for the remake. It wasn’t as awful as I thought it would be, but that’s about all I can say for it.
cody says
Anytime I want the main characters to lose/die in a movie it is a sure sign it is awful (for me). This was the case with the Red Dawn remake, I wanted Josh Peck gunned down so bad.
Brian says
He was clearly the weakest link. Thor did alright though.
PrfktTear says
I second ‘ORANGE’ — if you haven’t seen it yet, make a point to watch it!
Erik Johnson says
That is remarkably simple! Its quite a diverse collection that I don’t know if I can give any recommendations or feel right about steering you away from any particular titles either.
Hope you’re feeling better and can enjoy your marathon more throughly.
Brian says
Thanks Erik! I never got sick until I had kids–they’re just walking biohazards.

Nice list! I see a lot of things that are in my queue as well, like MST3K, Bride of Frankenstein, and Metropolis. I started watching Metropolis a week or so ago after having it in my queue for years. I’ve seen it before, but the remastered version is beautiful. I look forward to picking up where I left off soon!
Brian says
Ha! Metropolis has also been in my queue since I signed up for Netflix. It’s one of those movies I know that i need to watch, but sitting down to do it has just not happened yet. 😉

You have to watch Rare Exports this month!
I’m not a Flixter (if that’s not how Netflix users are referred to, I call it!) so I don’t know if they might have any of these available but if you need a holiday horror fix:
Saint aka Sint aka Saint Nick
Santa’s Slay
Films to Keep You Awake: The Christmas Tale
Brian says
I’ve been waiting for the Christmas season to arrive before watching Rare Exports — really excited about that one.

Brace yourself for naked old men…
Batfan says
Now that is an awesome list!
I especially like Equilibrium and the ‘Werewolf’ episode of MST3K (classic episode).
Brian says
Thanks Ben! You can’t go wrong with any MST3K. 😉
John Gaither says
Very good list of movies Brian and few of my favorites in there too like the Bride of Frankenstein and Equilbrium. : )
Brian says
Looks like I need to move Equilibrium up in the queue. That’s one I haven’t seen yet.
Batfan says
It’s awesome! Caught it in the theaters when it first came out. A lot of people compare it to the Matrix movies but, it’s WAY better, in my opinion.
Gun Kata RULES

I would recommend any of the DC animated movies. Their superhero adventures are top notch. Too bad they can’t do the same with more of their live action movies. I also really enjoy all those LEGO movies. Great visuals with smart scripts. The Batman Lego movie was probably the best Batman film I have seen in years.
Ace says
Thanks for the opportunity to be apart of something that, not only allows me to sharpen my skills but gives me a reason to keep working on stuff. Also, I hope you don’t mind that I stole your idea about the screenshot for my Netflix instant queue. Let me know if it’s an unforgivable encroachment.

FDR American Badass is up now, check it out if you haven’t seen it!
