Cool and Collected

Collecting pop culture toys, comics, and collectibles collections

Batman and Robin electric toothbrush by Janex

Have you ever bought somebody’s old toothbrush? No? Well, you clearly have more sense than me.

I like nothing more than plastic that has been formed into the shape of a favorite character. Figural products are a passion of mine, and I recently added this beauty to the Batman collection…

This toothbrush has eluded me many times, and when I saw this particular one on eBay not too long ago, I wasn’t going to let it slip away again. Luckily for me, the other toothbrush collectors weren’t out in force, and I was able to avoid a bidding war. I managed to secure this toothbrush for a reasonable $26.09. (I won’t even tell you what I had set as my maximum bid amount — I told you collectors are insane!)

This toothbrush was one of many awesome toys that Janex produced in 1977. I already have the pencil sharpener and alarm clock, but there are a few other items that I still need to track down.

I love the look of the vintage blue and gray Batman, but wait, what’s going on back here…

Those were certainly more innocent times.

This week, the League of Extraordinary Bloggers asked “Why did I buy that?” and I’m not the only one who answered the call. Check out Space for Rent, Crooked Ninja Turtle Gang, the Nerd Nook, Monster Cafe, That Figures, the Dusty Shelf, and more!

Nice score! Funny you picked this up now. I’m actively pursuing the He-Man tooth brush set I had as a kid.

And yes definitely more innocent times. My brother and I were discussing the innocence of our childhood just this morning when I brought up the advice segments at the end of each MOTU episode. Lol 😉

Wow. Great pick up! I’ve wanted one of those for a while. You finding one at a reasonable price fills me with hope.

I have one of these still brand new in the box. What are they worth?
