Yard Sale Haul — Some action figures and Transformers

yard sale haul - collection of action figures

The yard sales were brutal this weekend! We started at a large church sale where I found a few action figures but kept seeing other guys walking around with huge bins of LEGO and old board games, which made me realize that we arrived too late. It opened at 8:00 and we were there at 8:10. Ten minutes makes all the difference in a flea market environment like that.

We didn’t stay long and decided to head out to some of the yard sales we flagged on Craigslist, making detours for any signs that we saw, “freestyling,” as the American Pickers would call it.

When all was said and done, I did manage to scrounge up a few fun toys, including vintage action figures from the Real Ghostbusters, Batman, and Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood. I have no idea what that eyeball figure is in the middle of the picture above, but it’s a Happy Meal toy that makes me really happy. The eyeball just jiggles around in the space helmet using some kind of black magic (probably magnets).

Another Happy Meal toy that’s new to me was this great Mario ball. I’ll always pick up Nintendo toys, especially Mario ones. There’s Wonder Woman without the plastic cup that she should be holding from Burger King. That Sully figure from Monsters, Inc. was found by my son, so he has claimed it for his own (proud papa), and who can resist a Rowdy Roddy Piper figure? Not me.

Someone was selling a giant box of newer Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vehicles, which are fairly worthless (and HUGE). I left the vehicles but I did buy a large ziploc bag filled with weapons and accessories, including those four Mousers, for fifty cents. Toy collectors love their accessories since those are the first items kids lose, and toy customizers also love to buy them, so I never pass up items like that.

yard sale haul - transformers collection

Like I said in previous posts, I’ve been finding a LOT of Transformers this year. Look at this bunch I got for $7. An unopened Silverstreak could probably sell for $25-30 on its own, so this was a no-brainer. I never understand people who sell brand new items at yard sales, but I do love them for it. Anyone want to identify the plane for me on the left?

This guy is my favorite buy of the day. It’s always nice to get so much joy for 25 cents.

Next weekend is a holiday weekend, so I don’t have much faith in the yard sales but I might check out a flea market for the first time this year. So, did you find any treasures this weekend? Let’s hear it!

That 25 cent dinosaur! He is perfection, you truly saved best for last. I just picture him effeminately shouting, “HEY’ YA’LL!” with a thick southern drawl. Me and my overactive imagination.

Great toy finds! To think I had that Mario ball, it’s my nephew’s now, I got tired of it rolling around. And give me some of that transformer-finding luck. At least I finally found a huge toy again, a big-ass fisherprice boat!

That dinosaur is awesome! I got a similar Godzilla for $1 at a yard sale last year. Actually, I think it’s the same one that is in your logo. Around the same time I found this huge orange T Rex with yellow stripes and a trigger on his back that when you pull it, he moves his arms and opens his mouth and growls. I got him for $0.50 and my Son and I have had endless hours of fun since he was born because we play this game where the T Rex tries to eat everything including his dinner, all his other toys, and his toes.

Thanks, Russ. I remember playing those games with our picky eaters. Who can eat their peas faster? The kids always eat when there’s a T-Rex around.

Nice haul! I actually found myself with an Optimus Prime from a weekend sale, myself. I guess people are making room on their shelves for the movie toys? I also wonder how many people out there still have the BK cups that came with those Super Powers cup holders. I ran across the Darkseid from that set at the weird Ellicott City antique mall the other day.

I’m still of the mindset that for most kids, Transformers are fun for a day, and then they are just work, so they end up collecting dust on the shelf.

I have one of the Batman Burger King cups and a Superman cup, and now Wonder Woman joins the ranks. I forgot there was a Darseid!

Looks like a good haul. Those mousers tend to be pretty popular. There still seem to be a few TMNT army builders left that love those.

As for the Transformers, that Silverstreak is a pretty popular piece, even just among customizers. That plane is a Cybertron Wing Saber. It looks like part of the front section and the cyber key are missing, but even incomplete he’s still a pretty desirable figure for completists. The other guy on the right is a Transformers Crossover figure. Also a nice piece for customizers.

Overall, not a bad haul at all!

Thanks for the ID Chris! I knew that Wing Saber figure was missing some pieces but now I see that he’s missing a lot. Looks like he may head to the customizer bin. 😉

Ha! I’m just glad the likes of you are over on the other side of the country, or my pickings would be much slimmer. 😉

Awesome haul as always! I was able to finally pick up Wheeljack(and a secret toy that I might post tonight). It was slim pickings on the yard sale front(for my tastes anyway), but I did come home with some alright stuff(posted about it a couple days ago).

I have a bunch of those Mario McDonalds toys(still in the package). If you’re interested, maybe we could work out another trade. 🙂 Let me know.
