The other day, I saw an article on this topic over on Buzzfeed and immediately wanted to write my own list. I decided to expand my list to the entire Marvel universe of movies and not limit it to just the Avengers. I thought I might even expand the list even further to include ALL superhero movies, but ranking the Batman and Superman movies in with this bunch was just too hard, and let’s not forget Swamp Thing! 😉
Here goes…
10. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
9. Spider-Man 2
8. X2
7. X-Men: Days of Future Past
6. Thor
5. X-Men: First Class
4. Captain America: The First Avenger
3. Iron Man
2. The Avengers
1. Guardians of the Galaxy
Yep, as of this weekend, we have a new winner! Guardians of the Galaxy was the most fun I’ve had in the theater in years.
To be honest, I love all these movies so much that ranking them was difficult. I would gladly give up a couple of hours of my evening to watch any of these movies. I think the Avengers and GotG will rank high on most people’s list, but let me know what would be at the top of your list of favorite Marvel movies.

This week, the League of Extraordinary Bloggers is making their own Top 10 lists. Check them out!

I know nothing of GoTG but might have to go now! Avengers was a dream come true and executed very, very well by the studio.

If you had told me ten years ago that we’d have this many good Marvel movies, let alone good comic book movies, I’d have never believed you.

I agree with ya Brian on most of the movies you’ve listed down here. Especially with Avengers and GotG leading the pack! Exciting times indeed for Marvel fans…..their films get better and better with each offering.
It wouldn’t be fair to compare the Keaton/Reeve movies with them Marvel flicks. They’re in a league of their own…I would even go ahead to call them the ‘best’ ever when it comes to comparing them with the modern versions of late *cough* Bale/Cavill *cough*….
I too love that Wes Craven Swamp Thing flick….in all of its goofiness, it still struck a chord with me!
Brian says
Yeah, the tone of the Bale/Cavill films is so different than that of the 80/90’s Batman films and the Reeves’ Superman movies, it would be an impossible task to rank them together.
All the Marvel movies seem to inhabit the same time and “universe,” so it’s much easier to compare them to one another.
