I was talking with Ashley Raburn of Life with Fandom last week and he asked if I was looking for anything in particular for my collection, since he was going to be selling at a toy show over the weekend. I’m always looking for something, but the list is constantly evolving in my head. I couldn’t really tell him anything specific, which led to this week’s league topic:
—-
We all collect something. What is a holy grail item you hope to find at a flea market, toy show, or comic convention? What else do you collect?
—-
Who knows, maybe a fellow League member has what you’re looking for! (A big thanks to Reis O’Brien for letting me use that photo of one of his holy grails: the ultra rare Blue Snaggletooth action figure.)
Once you put up a post on your site add a comment below with the URL. Next Monday, I will put up a post here on Cool & Collected with a list of all the contributing blogs. Once that list is posted, if you haven’t already done so, try to incorporate at least three of your fellow League members’ links (but more would be great!) into the article you wrote on your site.
By cross-posting like this, we will help each other out by sending new readers to each other’s sites. Have fun!
(Wondering what the heck this is all about? We’re recruiting for this loose-knit, rag tag crew! Here are the details for joining The League.)

Ashley talked a little with me too on this subject and it is a great one Brian am sure i will have something up for this one soon.

Wow, this one’s gonna be tough! There’s a lotta stuff I wish I had…wouldn’t know yet what would be a “holy grail!” Woohoo!
TL says
No need to think long about this one…

Brian says
Before TL joined the league, I never knew Mr. Rogers collectibles even existed.
Reis O'Brien says
And a mighty big thanks to Eric Stettmeier for giving me that Blue Snaggletooth!
Oh, and I’m going to rock this week’s theme.
John says
That Blue Snaggletooth is definitely on my list.
Reis O'Brien says
Just a suggestion, but the “What else do you collect?” could make a great theme all by itself. Just throwing that out there.
Brian says
No kidding! I started writing down my list last night, and let’s just say it’s going to be a lengthy response this week.
Mike says
I already know what I’m writing about.
FijiMermaid says
I love the topic this week… sadly I can’t think of a single hard to find thing I want. There are many accessible things, but that rare weird item I can’t think of.
Brian says
Aw come on, there’s got be a rare soundtrack or Predator item out there just waiting for you to find it. 😉
FijiMermaid says
Now that you mention it there is something actually two things I would like to find. One I never had and one I actually owned as a wee babe.

Stacey says
I saw a Roddy Piper figure at a toy show this weekend, but sadly, he was missing his kilt. And that Spider-Man bank is sweet! I have the Halloween candy bucket that matches it. The Shogun Warriors Godzilla sits in my living room, but he is missing his tail and firing fist. Poor guy, he hides his missing hand with a Donkey Kong puppet.
Brian says
Such a great list Mike! You and I seem to collect a lot of the same things, we might need to work out a trade sometime. 😉
Stacey says
Ooooooooooooh, I know what I’m writing about!
Ashley says
Here is my holy grail! http://www.lifewithfandom.com/2012/04/league-my-holy-grail.html

The holiest of holy for the MOTU collector. I had fun with one of those not too long ago: https://www.coolandcollected.com/the-battle-for-eternia-has-begun-on-ebay/

It should come as a surprise to no one that my holy grail is related to King Kong: https://www.coolandcollected.com/talking-holy-grails-and-white-whales/

Brian, you’re not going to believe this, but I just posted my contribution for this week’s assignment! Read all about it here.

Whew. At long last. http://www.leftylimbo.com/2012/04/the-league-holy-grails-and-white-whales/
Brian says
Aw man, I was about to give you some serious high fives but then you pulled the rug out from under my feet. The two toys you mentioned are actually the two toys that I have the earliest memories of owning– such a great trip down memory lane, but your story about the Eagle Spaceship is just a dagger in this collector’s heart. 😉
leftylimbo says
Yup, totally hear ya Brian. I get the worst sinking feeling in my stomach every time I think of that box on the shelf. Ugh.
Well, on a happier note, we have something in common, which is neato-keen! =D
Kevin Hellions says
I may have rambled on for quite a while here. Went for the wrestling stuff this week.
http://teamhellions.com/2012/04/14/league-x-white-whales-and-yard-sales/
Brian says
I probably haven’t watched wrestling since the 80’s but when I did, it was ALL WWF. I remember seeing Hulk Hogan wrestle at the Capital Center in Landover, MD and it had to be one of the highlights of my youth. This is one area I don’t collect, but I would LOVE to have an LJN Hulk Hogan figure for the 80’s shelf. Great memories, Kevin!

Man, after reading all these cool entries, I had to update my post with my story of Zee Toys’ Dyna-Flites, which I collected religiously when I was 10–12 yrs. old. http://www.leftylimbo.com/2012/04/the-league-holy-grails-and-white-whales/
