Cool and Collected

Collecting pop culture toys, comics, and collectibles collections

This week’s assignment from the League: Your Hollywood Blockbuster

expendables

One of my favorite weekly podcasts is Nerd Lunch, where the hosts (and two fellow League members) CT, Paxton, and Jeeg, talk about a variety of pop culture topics and “What Ifs.” On a recent episode, they talked about the Expendables movie, and put together their own dream cast for a movie. I absolutely loved this idea, and asked CT if I could steal it for this week’s League topic. He graciously agreed, so here is your challenge for this week:

—–

You are a big shot Hollywood movie producer with an unlimited budget. You need to assemble the ultimate ensemble cast for a movie that is sure to fill every movie theater seat around the world. Who do you hire and what kind of film are you going to make?

—–

(If you’re looking for some inspiration, go listen to the Nerd Lunch podcast #22.)

league logoOnce you put up a post on your site add a comment below with the URL. Next Monday, I will put up a post here on Cool & Collected with a list of all the contributing blogs. Once that list is posted, if you haven’t already done so, try to incorporate at least three of your fellow League members’ links (but more would be great!) into the article you wrote on your site.

By cross-posting like this, we will help each other out by sending new readers to each other’s sites. Have fun!

(Wondering what the heck this is all about? We’re recruiting for this loose-knit, rag tag crew! Here are the details for joining The League.)

HAHA! Damn near! It’s been so busy I’ve hardly had time to check Twitter. I’ve also finely got some motivation to work on a few scripts that have been laying around for over a year. It’s amazing what you can get done if you get off the grid every now and then. 😉

Aha! Yes, this is a great topic. One of my favorites that we’ve done.

I’m going to do this, but CT is probably going to yell at me to “SAVE IT FOR THE PODCAST!” I’m going to go by the rules of the podcast in that the actors/actresses have to still be living.

    Now, for the genre……..

I remember listening to you guys during the podcast and wanting throw a few names into the ring, and I’ve been looking forward to posting this topic for a while. It should generate some fun responses.

Glad you’re going with this topic. And I’m anxious to jump back into League posts, but until I get done with my schooling, I don’t see that happening. Looking forward to seeing what everyone does with this topic!

Glad you signed on this week, Ashley! You win the honorary prize for the first entry of the week, stealing the title from Mr. Tupa who has won it every week so far! Nicely done: http://www.lifewithfandom.com/2012/03/leugue-week-5-my-hollywood-blockbuster.html

I love the casting in this one! There is one person who keeps showing up in this week’s responses. It seems like this Kate Beckinsale gal is fairly popular.

I think she’s the go-to girl for ”strong, independent women” – i.e. she wears tight clothes and shoots guns in slow motion.
