The League has spoken: Deserted Island

league logoLast week, the League of Extraordinary Bloggers was asked to tell us who and what they would take with them for a 10-year stay on a deserted island. For the wrap-up, I’m only going to list the pop culture character the League members chose, so be sure to click through to read the rest!

  • Tattoo
  • Rudy… and Rudy Too (who?)
  • Batman
  • Sara Jane Smith
  • B.A. Baracus
  • Bow
  • King Kong (predictable)
  • Indiana Jones
  • Rose Tyler
  • Gandhi (just writing that, made me laugh)
  • Multiple Man
  • Lara Croft
  • Lara Croft again (she gets around)
  • Mystique (smart choice)
  • Colonel Hogan
  • Velma Dinkley
  • Larry David

I still can’t get the image of playing Twister with Tattoo out of my head. Great picks everyone!

Housekeeping

Remember, to stay a League member in good standing, you should add some links to your fellow League members in your post to help spread the love. I’ll post the new topic later today!

Don’t forget, if you sign up for the Cool & Collected email newsletter, you will get a reminder on Mondays about the new League topic.

If you’re playing along at home and want to join the League, all you need is a love of pop culture and a blog. Come join the fun, and tell your friends!

    Hey Brian,

Here’s an idea. How about a weekend poll to vote for your favorite league post of the week. Everyone that gets their post in before like Saturday, gets a chance to enter in the poll. Then when you do your Monday wrap up, you can release the results. Might encourage people to get their posts in earlier and reward someone for coming up with great content (Tattoo and twister.)

Could also release the poll with the Monday wrap up to include everyone and maybe release results with the new league topic or on Tuesday.

    Just thinking out loud.

I love this idea Jason but I’m not sure how it would work. Some people don’t even get their articles in until late on Sunday night. I don’t want to pressure folks to get their articles done early but I certainly think that kudos should be given when you read something you enjoy. As it is now, I kind of have the bully pulpit and say whatever I want and highlight my personal favorites, which isn’t necessarily “fair.” (e.g. I don’t get Dr. Who references at all!) By all means, if you have a favorite post for the week, tell everyone about it!

I don’t know if a poll would work, but I think people should chime in here on the weekly wrap-up page with their favorite moments of the week, in addition to actually commenting on the blog post of that person, of course!

I read EVERY word that is written by League members in response to the League challenge, but I’m not sure if others do the same. By praising your favorite posts here each week, more people would visit those posts (in theory).

Let’s open it up to debate! Comments anyone? What else should we be doing to help each other out?

You know I almost considered night crawler, or Q as either could teleport me off the island.

I’m not sure about voting for the same reason: posts early in the week will receive more votes that those posted in Sunday… and sometimes monday. That won’t be fair. A good post will take a little more time to make.
I love to read League’s posts, but what I love the most is perusing photos of their toys. Oh gosh, I LOVE toys!

My favorite this week: Miss M’s (Diary of a Dorkette) of course!

I like the idea you mentioned Brian of just commenting in here (and of course on other people’s blogs) about the things that they enjoyed reading. I feel like it would give a focused place and sense of community for people to talk to each other.
