Have you stumbled upon this amazing package at the grocery store yet? I honestly don’t know why vintage Marvel artwork is being used for this box art but it certainly caught my eye! Among all the Photoshopped Avengers: Age of Ultron cereal boxes and potato chip bags, this beacon of retro goodness shines bright.
The box art is like cracking open an old Marvel specialty comic or activity book, filled with stock promotional art combined with trivia and games, and even a collector card! I’ve only been able to find the cards for Iron Man and the Black Widow, but you can bet that I am on the hunt for the other two.
Th granola bars are pretty standard fare, but their individual pouches are excellent. These really do remind me of what it was like to be a kid reading comics in the early 80’s. Each packet has a character and a starburst with a bit of trivia. I’m assuming there is a Captain America bar out there, but I haven’t got one yet — I guess I need to eat a few more granola bars!
Why Marvel put out this packaging is a mystery to me, but I hope there’s more on the way.

I have Black Widow cards if you still need them.
Dawn says
We bought these last night! Could only find Hawkeye and Black Widow cards.

I keep looking but can only find Iron Man and Black Widow. It doesn’t seem like they’re selling that well, so I may never see a restock. Oh well, the hunt is on!

I am in Central California, just recently saw these at Wal Mart. Until this week, the only box was chocolate chip w/ a Hawkeye card. On Sunday, they had only 1 box of Pnut Butter/Choc Chip w/ a Spider-Man card! The box says “collect all 4” cards, so I’m confused-maybe a regional thing? I love the classic Marvel art (Romita, Buscema, Colan, et al..)
Brian says
I’m on the other coast, so it might be a regional thing. I still haven’t found the other two cards.
David says
Just noticed, the photos above show red boxes; the previously-mentioned boxes I found had a blue background. So perhaps Blue background Choc Chip = Hawkeye, blue background pnut butterchoc chip= Spidey, red background choc chip=Iron Man, & red background pnut btr choc chip=Black Widow?
Also, FYI Brian, there is indeed a Captain America wrapper. His “trivia” is: he designed his own costume (& I thought Jack Kirby did!)
Brian says
Hmm, I haven’t seen any blue boxes yet. Interesting!

At Walmart i was able to find the blue boxed ones, between 2 stores i found Iron Man, Black Widow, and the Hulk, When i went to Meijer, they had Hawkeye, Captain America, and the same Iron Man, i think there are two sets, but 7 cards since you can find Iron Man at either store, I’d assume Thor, and Spider-Man, are the two i haven’t seen yet since their on the box
Connor says
Sorry for any confusion, actually it doesn’t matter what store your at, the peanut butter chocolate chip ones has a set of four, and the chocolate chip one has a set of four, i didn’t know there were two different Spider-Man’s
Wendy Martinez says
Brian, If you still need the Captain America card I have several of them. Email me back.
