Original Frank Miller Dark Knight cover art sells for $478,000

This pen and ink cover drawing for Frank Miller’s iconic Dark Knight Returns #2 recently sold at Heritage Auction for $478,000. Pre-auction estimates had the price set at $500,000 so it wasn’t too far off the mark. This was the first Dark Knight cover to be sold at auction, and it was the only one that Miller rendered completely in pen and ink, with no major painted elements or overlays.
