Cool and Collected

Collecting pop culture toys, comics, and collectibles collections

August 15, 2012 By 48 Comments

It’s time for another giveaway — Get yer pop culture!

I just hit a milestone on Twitter and attained the 1,000 follower mark. While that number might not sound that high to some, I consider a bit of validation that when I talk about vintage toys, posters, and memorabilia, there are people out there that actually care to listen.

As a way to mark this milestone, I am going to give away five different “pop culture packages” as a way of showing my thanks. This should be a fun way to spread the pop culture karma. Want to know what’s up for grabs? Check this out…

pop culture package - Alf doll

Vintage 80’s ALF plush doll. You’ll definitely want to add this guy to your collection before the new movie is released and the tsunami of ALF nostalgia sends the price of these dolls goes through the roof.

pop culture package - toy collector tshirt

Teefury 80’s Toy Collector T-shirt.Β This shirt is XL and I promise I never wore it!

pop culture package - vintage comic books

Old comic books. Not really collectible copies, but fun to read!

pop culture package - archer spaceman

Vintage Spaceman. This guy is battle-worn but still stands tall and proud.

pop culture package - 80's books

80’s Nostalgia Bomb. I guarantee this package will take you back to the land of scratch ‘n sniff.

How to win

All you have to do to win one of the Pop Culture Packages is to be a follower of mine on Twitter, and enter a comment below with the name of your favorite pop culture character. Make sure you enter the email address field, so I can contact you. U.S. addresses only, unless you want to pay for the shipping. Starting on August 22, 2012, I’ll pick one random winner at a time and let that person choose the package he/she wants, then will pick the next winner, etc. Your chances of getting one of these is probably really, really good, so go ahead and add a comment below. Thanks everyone!

THIS CONTEST IS NOW OVER. Thanks everyone!

Great contest and congrats on the milestone!

Choosing one, favorite pop culture character is a difficult choice, but I’ll go with Han Solo.

As I search the vastness of the pop culture the one character I keep coming back to is Captain Malcolm Reynolds. Granted, he wants his independence and will stop at nothing to protect his crew, he’s not above killing anybody that gets in his way. He’s a better Han Solo, with more depth. He’s the only reason I went out of my way to purchase ‘Firefly’ on Blu-Ray!

My favorite pop culture icon is of course, Spider-Man. Batman is right behind Spidey. I would say Bats is 1A.

Congrats on your milestone! My favorite pop culture character is Spock from Star Trek, TOS. I spent an entire summer, when I was 8 or 9, saying “illogical” a lot and trying to not show emotions.

Brian, you know that I just had to create a Twitter account just to be in this contest? And you were the first person I started to follow(out of 2 total). I can never turn down the chance to be in a contest.

My favorite pop culture character would have to be Donatello(TMNT), by just a smidge.

Congrats!! And really, thanks for the LoeB. I’ve met (and keep meeting) so many cool people through this site.

I think I have to go with the Creature from the Black Lagoon!

I had some Spacemen that looked similar to this guy but they were cast in white, red, black and maybe one other color. Do they have a name?

All right, I actually just made myself a Twitter account so I could enter this contest. I hope to love the Twitter lifestyle, and following you on there. My FAVORITE pop culture character?

I would HAVE to go with Scooby Doo!!! He and the gang have been old favorites since I was a kid. That was hard. Sort of like picking your favorite kid. I might have also gone with the Cookie Monster, or Slimer, or Casey Jones or Wolfbreath the Madball, or… GRAH!!!

Scooby Doo! Scooby Doo can be the only one! (I even made a different pop-culture REFERENCE when I made my pick!!!)

Congrats on 1000! I love the community that gathers here, especially the league. If I have to pick a fave, it has to be Pee-Wee Herman. He showed us that being young at heart is cool, and his killer design sense fostered a generation’s love of kitsch.

    Krang.

i’ve decided that the alien conqueror from Dimension X is my totem. and besides, he was the first TMNT action figure i owned as a kid.

or maybe Dracula from the Monster Squad. he was a stone-cold killer in a goofy costume and he wasn’t afraid to call a little girl a bitch.

    bogus.

Congrats on the milestone! Favorite pop culture character is a tough one for me. So many to choose from…I’ll go a little out of the ordinary and say the world’s fastest talker John Moschitta Jr. He was everywhere in the 80s and early 90s from Transformers: The Movie to Micro Machines ads and everywhere in between!
