Christmas is just around the corner. Stockings are being hung, strings of lights are being untangled, and the Wally World moose cups are being filled with holiday cheer.
Years ago, I thought it would be fun to get a kitschy Santa to add to our holiday decor. I found a great plastic blow-mold Santa from the 70’s at an antique store, and the seed of a new collection was planted. Every year, I try to find one or two new ones, and now the collection takes up an entire shelf. The greatest part of this collection is that it is temporary, and every year, I get to rediscover it when the bin comes up from the basement. Unwrapping the Santas is like an early Christmas present, as I get reacquainted with old friends who haven’t been seen since last year.
‘Tis the season that always rejuvenates my collecting spirit. Work slows down, allowing me to spend time organizing and rearranging my collection, and of course shopping is underway, and a new item or two for the collection invariably finds its way into the shopping cart.
For as long as I can remember, the first week of the New Year has been spent assessing and reorganizing my collection. While other people are coming up with resolutions, I am resolving which items will go into storage and which ones get to go on display.
I hope everyone is getting into the holiday spirit, whatever your holiday may be, and that your collecting spirit is jolly and bright!

I love the Santa collection idea. You’re due for a good shelf expression post after the next rearrangement ?
Brian says
The shelves are in the process of being reworked as we speak! 🙂

Good to see you back, Brian! That’s quite a setup. I like the idea of a seasonal portion of your collection.

Glad to be back, Ben — hope all is well with you!
