I was browsing the catalog of the upcoming Morphy auction and came across this incredible vintage robot…
I know next to nothing about Japanese robot toys, other than the fact they are incredibly cool, and if I had Donald Trump’s bank account they would be the first toys I would collect. While most vintage robots are scarce and expensive, this one was never even produced! It’s a prototype that never made it to the production line, which is a shame because it’s a beauty. It is battery-operated, and walks and swings it arms, but just when it has you cowering in fear, it does this…
Gaahh! Oh man, would this be the gem in any robot collection or what?
This robot is just one of many up for bid in Morphy’s upcoming “TOY, MARBLES, DOLLS, FIGURAL CAST IRON” auction on March 4-5, 2016. Check out the full catalog here.

Very cool. That’s both brilliant and random – I’ve never seen anything quite like it.

If you have some time to kill, there is a website devoted to robot and space toys called Alphadrome:
http://danefield.com/
They have a very active discussion forum, I would not be surprised if they were watching that auction too…
