Calling all horror movie fans! On October 26, there is an incredible selection of vintage monster memorabilia going under the gavel. Blacksparrow Auctions presents: Dr. Shocker’s Auction of Horror!
Dr. Shocker is the alter ego of Daniel Roebuck, an avid collector of original, rare and vintage horror, Sci-Fi and fantasy memorabilia. I received a copy of the auction catalog and was more than a little giddy as I flipped through the pages. They’re all there: Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and of course… KING KONG!
There’s a ghoulish selection of items ranging from posters, animation cels, masks, toys–just about anything you can think of that has ever had a monster on it! There is something for every budget, including original life masks of Boris Karloff, Vincent Price, Lon Chaney, Jr., Alfred Hitchcock, along with autographs, original artwork, wax figures, props and more — over 250 items are being offered!
Wait, there are Planet of the Apes toys in the auction too?!? Oh man, this Dr. Shocker guy has all kinds of good stuff! I want that lunch box!
As someone who has quite a few auction catalogs on the shelf, I can honestly say this is the first one that came with 3-D glasses. Splattered throughout the pages are “SHOCKERVISION” photos that present the collection in full 3-D! It makes you think you can just reach out and grab all those beautiful toys.
