Cool and Collected

Collecting pop culture toys, comics, and collectibles collections

Collector Profile: Bill Cooper, Frisbee Collector

Bill Cooper lives in Vancouver, B.C., and has been collecting “frisbees” since the late 70’s. Bill currently has 7,280 frisbees, and his collection is growing every day. He is no stranger to eBay, which has facilitated over 475 transactions for his flying toy habit.

Bill’s collecting areas are primarily focused on topics such as alcohol (175), McDonald’s (80+), Coca-Cola (80+), Hawaii (55+), minis (940+), pop-ups (120+), inflatables (50+), electronic (lights / sound) (50+), rings (100+), and foam (100+). Bill has realized that he has too many frisbees, and is in the process of selling off a large part of his collection to make room for even more discs, so if you’re looking for anything in particular, you should drop him an email.

Bill’s collecting pursuit began after playing disc at a friend’s house in the 70’s. While taking a break, he was amazed at all the different discs they used that day. The variety of designs and shapes appealed to him. Soon after that, he was working a warehouse job and found a Cocoa Puffs mini — not the first, but one of the first 25 for sure — and he was hooked.

Bill’s collection is massive, but he still is on the hunt for his personal holy grail, an I love NY frisbee, so if you have one of those in your collection, I think I know someone who might be interested.

In addition to frisbees, Bill also collects triangle shaped ashtrays, square shot glasses, beer pints, and Jimi Hendrix postcards, among other things.

Hi. I have a few old frisbees (late 70’s) including a Wham-O “Mini-Frisbee” disc autographed by Jens and Erwin Valesquez, a set of five “Disc Craft Micro Disc” discs (all different colors including a glow-in-the-dark one, and two mint Wham-O 25g Pocket Pros. I bought them around 1979 at a tournament held at St. John Fisher College near Rochester, NY, USA. They are all in very good condition and I’m considering letting them go. Can you point me to some collectors who might be interested in these? Thank you.

Beginning around 1960 and somewhat unintentionally, Frisbees started to gather at my place. Now, with several truly valuable one and a few that are worthless, I have four hundred eighty Frisbees. About seventy have college/university logos on them. Forty-two states are represented. Seventeen countries are represented. And so on. Any way, I would like for a Frisbee lover to buy them.
    Thank you

My older brother has been a collector for years. He used to play in tournaments. He just turned 60 and is in need of cash. I’m not sure how many he has, but his estimate is over $10,000 dollars invested, I know he’s got quite a collection. I’ll be talking to him soon & try to get a list of what he’s got, he wants me to list them on e-bay or help him sell them, he’s not computer literate. Let me know if you have any interest in them.

I would like the opportunity to sell your brother’s frisbee collection on eBay. I have been selling Donn Blake’s PDGA 002 collection on eBay for the pasted 2 years. I work with a 70/30% split. I handle everything for my client. Please get back to me. Thank you, Victor 002

    Hi Bill,

My name is Mike Hughes and I’ve been a serious disc collector since the late 70’s. I specialize in pretty much all Wham-o discs, I collect the NAS series discs, IFA discs, HDXs,WFC,s, minis and sets of three or more. I have some very rare second generation fastbacks that hail from a surf shop in Hawaii. It is a set of three but I would consider a trade. I would like to see if you might want to trade some minis? You might have a few I don’t? Since I saw had a collecting theme of Hawaii I thought I’d reach out to you.

    Mike

Hello. I was wondering if you could help me nail-down a price on a Frisbee I am interested in. It has a radio station and charity name on it from 1979. How much is it worth wholesale and retail shop? I can send you a few pics. Thanks.

    Sincerely,
    Jeff from Louisville

Hi Darrin, If you are interested in Bill’s Collection please send an email to BillsFrisbeeCollection@gmail.com. Sadly Bill has passed away, and in a few months from now his wife will be looking for a purchaser for his collection. If you send an email I will forward to you the inventory listing. I believe offers will be reviewed sometime this summer.

G’day from down under Perth Western Australia. I have a nylon promotional Frisbee with a black-edged fabric enclosed heavy ring. The white nylon face features the Australian flag waving with the names of a local television station – Channel 9 Perth top right hand corner above flag – and local radio station – 990 6pm bottom left hand below flag. I believe it was handed out as a promotion for Australia Day (January 26) sometime in the 70’s. It has only been used a couple of times and it flies really well.. I am having a clean out of all the stuff that I’ve hoarded over the years and would like it to go to a collector for what they consider a fair price. If any one is interested I can email a photo of the Frisbee in question.

    Have a bonzer day,
    Frank
