I may have mentioned this one or two (hundred) times, but I am a huge fan of the Halo video game franchise. Not only do I love the games, but I also devour the mythos and backstory of the Halo universe, so when a new art book comes out detailing aspects of the game, you can bet that book will find its way onto my shelves.
Awakening: The Art of Halo 4 has just been released by Titan Books, and it showcases the amazing conceptual art used to bring the latest video game to life. The pages are overflowing with images and commentary by the creative team at 343 Industries.
Having played the Halo 4 campaign mode and multiplayer games, it was immediately apparent that 343 Industries left no leaf unrendered. The environments in the game are the best yet, and this book has the detailed illustrations that were used to guide the game developers and programmers.
Master Chief has never looked better! The artists have done an amazing job in making his armor both functional and battle worn, while also looking bad ass!
I could look at awesome illustrations of Master Chief taking out the covenant all day long.
What would Halo be without all it’s weapons? The new game is loaded with the old and familiar, but it also shakes things up with an impressive array of Forerunner gadgets and gizmos.
Buy the game. Buy the book.Take next week off. You’ll thank me for it later.

So you got to see Master Chief’s eyes! Congrats! I’m still slogging my way through–been distracted by the multiplayer matches. 😉
