Recently, I drained my Paypal account to buy these two vintage plaster heads. I had only seen these once before so I knew they were pretty rare.
These heads were made in 3/4-view and have a hook on the back so you can hang them on the wall. There is a hole in each of the character’s teeth that goes all the way through the plaster. They’re about 8″ tall and they served a utilitarian purpose other than just looking creepy on the wall.
Any guesses on what these were used for? Tune in next time for the answer!
Big IV says
Were they in-store display pieces? Purely a wild guess but I can’t think what other function they could serve beyond decorative.
Brian says
Nope. Good guess but they did serve a function beyond just being decorative.

Does the hole in the teeth provide an avenue by which sound may be heard? My initial guess is a long shot, but first thing to pop into my head was a door bell chime…
Brian says
I guess it could allow sound through, but these are not doorbell chimes. 😉
Jon says
Okay, so the purpose isn’t emitting some kind of sound…I will get this…unless some one gets it first.
Rich says
I know but I won’t spoil it 😉
Brian says
Spoil away! It’s already been identified on my Twitter feed and Facebook page.
Rich (Fortune and Glory Days) says
I googled it tho. So I didn’t wanna spoil it without actually knowing it myself. Super cool additions tho!

Those are strange and really neat– looking forward to seeing what they are!
Todd says
That is a Dynamic Duo of string holders. Well worth whatever they cost.

DING! DING! DING! We have a winner! Thanks Todd!
Matt says
Wow! Too cool. Thanks for posting these. Never heard of these before.
Love the design/sculpts. They remind me of the art on the Batman serial posters.
Congrats on the great additions to your collection,
Matt
Brian says
Thanks Matt! These were possibly produced around the same time as those old serials, so the likeness is no accident.
