If you know me, you know I’m pretty excited about the fact that we’re getting a new King Kong movie. This one is especially exciting because it strays from the traditional New York storyline, and takes place on Kong’s home turf, Skull Island. The posters that have been released so far have been pretty amazing…
This Japanese poster was just released, and is one the best movie posters in recent memory — no Photoshop here!
This homage to the Apocalypse Now movie poster is the Skull Island poster that will be finding its way into my collection…
It really is amazing what you can get when you pick up the crayons and paints, and put down the Photoshop. This movie has some big named celebrities, but the top billing belongs to a fictional ape, so the lawyers weren’t involved in the art direction of these posters. I can’t wait to see what we’re going to get for the Godzilla vs. King Kong posters!

Awesome posters! Movie looks bad a-s!
Wasn’t there a Saturday morning cartoon about King Kong in the 70s? I still remember the theme song…
“King Kong, you know the name of King Kong! Ten times as big as a man!”
Get that out of your head for the rest of the day now.

I remember! There’s a great board game for that show that I’ve been trying to track down forever.

I love that Japanese poster. It looks like it stepped straight out of the 80’s. I think if I were to go with one, that would be it.
