They say gamblers get on a hot streak, well I am on a yard sale hot streak. I love this time of year. Every neighborhood in the DC suburbs is holding community yard sales every Saturday, and I have been finding some really great stuff. This past weekend I struck action figure gold. It’s not really something I collect but I certainly will pick them up if the price is right.
When I was a kid, my brother convinced me to sell all our Star Wars figures so we could buy sno-cones at the pool that summer. We sold them for a quarter each and I still feel the burn. I make sure to offer people a fair price for their toys at yard sales, because I don’t want to be a sour memory to some kid 30 years from now. All of the items on this page were offered to me for $15.00! The little red devil on my shoulder was prodding me hard with his little pitchfork but I resisted and added $40 which made everyone happy. I got a great deal and the seller was certainly pleased.
Check out the following photos and see what I found.
Godzilla figures and a cool gorilla from Tarzan.
Lazer Wars action figures. I never heard of these but they are pretty cool. They shoot a light beam into the chest of the opponent which makes him moan and shake.
Battlebeast? Not sure what this guy is to be honest.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Some original soft head turtles from 1988 were in the pile.
And some Mini Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
These Lord of the Rings action figures are amazing. The detail is incredible and I might just hold onto this bunch for a while. They really are pretty cool, but the most awesome find of the day…
This Lord of the Rings Treebeard figure is massive. Don’t even think of calling it an action figure. It is a work of art and weighs about 52 pounds (well, almost). It’s huge, and it talks! This guy is going to stay on my shelves for a good long while.

The guy you’re not sure of looks to be a Transformers Beast Wars figure. I don’t know who, as I was never into Beast Wars(I’m a Generation 1 fan).
I can’t believe the amount of TMNT you scored. I collect 80s toys, and TMNT is at the top of my list, and I have more TMNT figures than any other line.

Finally, a good lead to follow up. Thanks for the Beast Wars tip! I never had Transformers when I was a kid. I think my mom must have steered me away from that aisle in the toy store and shoved me down the less expensive GI Joe lane.

”More power to you for finding what you were looking for’.’ If your lucky, try looking for 1980s G.I.JOE action figures and vehicles, especially, the 1986 COBRA NIGHT RAVEN S3P JET PLANE”. I have tried, no luck at all.”
