Yard Sale Haul — Kill Bill meets the A-Team

 yard sale toy haul

One of the reasons I love yard sales is how random they can be. You really never know what you will find. The yard sales this weekend gave up some strange stuff, but I love strange stuff, so it’s all good. We hit a neighborhood yard sale that boasted 100 families participating. The threat of rain may have scared off some of them, but the ones that braved the weather made getting up at 6:30 AM worth it.

 kill bill action figures

The first sale we visited had these four Neca Kill Bill figures for $.50 each. Tarantino figures are certainly an unusual sight at our suburban yard sales!

 Johnny Lightning batmobile

At the same sale, I also found this awesome Johnny Lightning Batmobile model for $4. It hasn’t been assembled and all the pieces are still in the bags. I’m going to have fun with this!

 disney pixar cars

Earlier this summer, I picked up some Disney Pixar Cars diecast cars, and sold them on eBay for $2.50 each, so I jumped on this collection for $10. I can probably sell the case for $10 by itself.

marvel comics poster

This Marvel poster was a fun find for a quarter. It looks like everyone is there. This poster will be going up in one of my kid’s rooms, but I’m going to have to dig out my old Marvel Universe books to teach my kids the name of everyone.

apple imac poster

I also got a couple of these iMac posters for another quarter. These posters were included in the box when you bought an iMac. Macintosh has always had incredible advertising campaigns, and these posters are great examples of that genius.

Kenner star wars action figures

The rain set in and the yard sales started to fizzle so we went to a huge children’s toy and clothing sale that was being held in a high school. I’ve never had much luck at these events, but this time I found a Ziploc bag of old action figures for $1.50, which included these Star Wars figures — Lando, Bespin Guard, and… Greedo, you look… different. I honestly don’t know what the heck this green fellow is.

a-team action figures

In that same Ziploc bag was this mixed up group. Mr. T, you also look… different. These 80’s A-Team figures came with a pile of original accessories and weapons. I couldn’t believe this bag of figures was one of the last remaining toys at the sale. I guess all the moms of young kids didn’t know awesome when they saw it.

Pokemon and Bakugan toys

Want to know why my kids don’t complain about waking up before the sun rises? They hit the PokΓ©mon and Bakugan jackpot this weekend (again!). It was during this purchase that ourΒ 3-year-old took a nose dive onto a driveway. Once the blood stopped spurting, we decided that it was time to call it a day.

Like I said, there were some strange finds at the yard sales, but the stranger the better, in my opinion. So, did anyone else have any luck at the yard sales this weekend?

Oh and i now realize what toy line that green mystery fellow is from….Dragonriders of the Styx. They were made in the 80s and were pretty dang cool! I had a few of these and loved them. Reis over at Hey Look At My Toys has a few of these and i think he has this one too. I think he called him “Dragon Man” not for sure if that is his real name or not buy it fits lol.

Hey John, for identifying that figure, you win the prize! I’ll drop him in the mail to you this week. Warning, he is ugly and really crude, he almost looks like a bootleg figure, but he’s all yours!

    Brian,

Looks a good assortment of stuff. The Dragonriders figure is sweet. I used to have a few of those figures. Today I only have one of them, the DEMON. I’ve lost his wings and weapons, but he’s still looking nice and evil.

I keep finding myself at a local Sunday flea market and picked up a few STAR WARS figures for $1 each and 2 Marvel Legends for $1 each as well.

My 2 little girls got a Bratz genie bottle and some Littlest pet Shop stuff too.

Man, I have seen a LOT of those Littlest Pet Shop figures at the yard sales this summer. I have boys, so they get the Pokemon toys, but if I had girls, you can bet their room would be overflowing with those Pet Shop animals. πŸ˜‰

Nice haul, as always! Any idea who made those A-Team figures? I have a few of the 3.75″ line from the 80s, but I never knew of a bigger scale. I’d seen the Mr T that you have up there, but never knew they made the rest of the team. Wondered if there was a butt stamp of the company or something πŸ™‚

Those chunky figures were made by Galoob in 1983. I already had a set of them but only had Mr. T’s accessories (including some bolt cutters!), so this was a nice find.

Great pick ups. I have that Batmobile, but have not put it together. I stink at model kits, but it looks pretty cool in the box.

It does look pretty great in the box and I love the graphics. I’ve never put together a diecast model before, so it should be fun. That sucker is heavy!

That Marvel poster is awesome! The yard sales have all but dried up in my area. I haven’t been to one in a month or so, but I did find 1 item this past weekend at the only yard sale I saw(I did a post about it, among other things last night).

So, you’re kids are big Pokemon fans, huh? I have a bunch of the older holographic cards, that I would be willing to part with(maybe a trade?). Hit me up and let me know. If you need pics or a list of them, I would be happy to get them for you.

My son doesn’t quite “get it” yet. We were thumbing through two huge binders of cards on Saturday and he would pick out the ones he needed. He kept passing over all the holo cards, because he already had those cards, but not necessarily holo ones. To him, he just wants to complete his collection by cards, and doesn’t get too excited about the holos. Of course, I’m trying to explain to him how those are the rare ones that he should be picking out, but he’ll have none of that! I just have to smile and let him run his collection the way he wants to run it.

Jason, you know I’m always up for a trade, so let me know if you’ve seen anything on the site that you’d want to swap those cards for. (And nice score with that Stimpy doll this weekend!).

I am not a garage sale type person but I do thrift ALOT. If you ever are in the SF BAy Area you should let me know..I can take you to thrift stores so full of toys it will take you hours to go through them all..and you most likely won’t even spend $50 and leave with BAGS full πŸ™‚

I love the A-Team toys btw!

That’s awesome! I don’t know why but the thrift stores around here have almost no toys. I thought they might have been banned from selling them due to lead or something. Glad to hear you can find a bargain out on the other coast!

The few Goodwill stores in my area won’t even touch toys anymore due to the lead scare. I spoke to the owner of a used/vintage toy shop and he told me that only toys made before a certain year are in the danger zone, but most stores won’t take the chance, I guess.

Hey man I realize i’m about 5 years later but somehow my 3 year old son managed to come across your post and see your “Cars” set with the holder and whatnot, he won’t stop asking me to get it for him…what are the chances you still have your hands on those?
