The weather has not been cooperating for the yard sale season around here. Once again, the clouds were threatening all morning on Saturday, and I think it kept a lot of people from participating in the neighborhood sales I hit. I did manage to find a few items–the voice-changing Darth Vader helmet was a fun score for a dollar. I also got a TMNT turtle playset without any of its pieces for another dollar, but my son already claimed that one! The large Donatello doll and backpack Super Soaker set me back a whopping 50 cents. In total, I spent a little less than $20 for the day.
I usually bypass old XBox and Playstation games, but this stack caught my eye just because it was almost a complete run of Ghost Recon titles. I threw in a couple of other games to get the seller to drop the rice to a dollar a game, which I thought was a great deal.
These large figures were hard to miss. For whatever reason, I keep coming across toys from Small Soldiers this year at the yard sales. Those Small Soldiers Happy Meal toys I picked up a few weeks ago turned out to be a pretty good find.
One of my favorite finds of the day was this Amazing Spiderman diecast bus–and Skeletor has a sweet-looking ride!
Now, this was a great pickup for just 50 cents–a Hot Wheels slot car set with most of the pieces, and it even works! All I really wanted was the Batmobile, but when I got home, I saw what the Joker recently sold for on eBay. Holy schmoley Batman!
So how are the yard sales treating you so far this season? Who else found some pop culture goodness this weekend?

No luck yet at the yard sales or thrifts but I scored another Dollar General repaint GI Joe I was looking for today so that’s good I think.

That’s very good. i haven’t even seen one of those Joes in the stores yet. I might need to wait until they show up in the yard sales. 😉

I need to delve into the yard sale fun more often. However, with my town being such a transient city it’s hard to find items I’m interested in. People either dumped it before they came here or dump it before they leave. The Spider-Man bus certainly looks cool as does the Batman slot cars. I’ve been wanting the Batman TV series slot car set for a while now. It would be a nice addition to my upcoming Batman TV series toy collection.

This area is pretty transient too, with all the military/government workers. Moving sales can be a great place to make a score–sometimes people just don’t want to haul all those boxes of toys across the country again. 😉

I love that Spider Man die cast car. Is that from the Johnny Rocket line from a few years back?
Brian says
It’s a Johnny Lightning bus. Here’s one on Amazon in the packaging: http://www.amazon.com/JOHNNY-LIGHTNING-MARVEL-SPIDER-MAN-DIE-CAST/dp/B007WPOWSC

Nice scores ya got there. That Joker motorcycle is pretty awesome. I myself haven’t been to any fleas yet but am gearing up for Philly Comic Con. I am pretty psyched! I’m hoping to get Kong before then as I have purchased him a four day pass as well 😉
Brian says
Fingers crossed that he gets to you in time. Kong has a way of keeping his own schedule though. 😉

Scored a full set of Playskool blocks in the original can from 1974 and a 1980 Fisher Price cassette player.
Brian says
Nice! I have fond memories of one of those cassette players.

I scored a snake mountain playset from he-man for a $1 at a flea. Needs pieces, but the microphone still works.

Score!!!
