Vintage Aurora Model Kits

Here are some pictures of the Aurora model kits boxes I added to the collection last weekend. Most of these are in amazing condition, especially when you consider they are around 50 years old.

King Kong and Godzilla

Dr Jekyll as Mr. Hyde, Madame Tussaud’s Chamber of Horrors Guillotine, and the Vampire

Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Phantom of the Opera

The Bride of Frankenstein and the Witch

The Blue Knight and Sir Galahad

The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Tarzan, and Dick Tracy

Lost in Space and the Robot

James Bond 007 and Odd Job

Superman, Superboy, and Wonder Woman

Captain America, Spiderman, and the Hulk

The King Kong and Godzilla boxes are clearly my favorites, but those super hero boxes are so cool. I need more shelves!

These model kit boxes were built with heavy cardboard to protect the fragile plastic models inside, and as a result, the boxes have held up amazingly well. The larger sized boxes are a little bashed and beaten but the long skinnier boxes look like they just came off the store shelf back in the 60’s.

Man, I love that box art. I buy reissues of all the monster car kits just for the boxes myself…

How absolutely beautiful these are bro. I am more than a bit jealous I must admit, I can never find these beauties anywhere I seem to look, so big kudos on the pick up!

I’ll be showing the models for sure, but they really are kind of a letdown after seeing those boxes. Most of them are in pieces and poorly built and painted.

Awesome boxes. I have the repo Spiderman on my Spidey shelf. Love the Bonds, Man from U.N.C.L.E and Capt. America.

could you post pics of some of the boxes opened so we can see inside?

even if the models are not the best I would like to get an idea of what they look like.

    Thanks!

Those Polar Lights Reissues show up around here all the time. I’ve always been curious about the difference in quality between these and those.

If you open any up, be sure to let us know!

I believe the Polar Lights models are recast from the original Aurora molds, so I’d be surprised if the quality was much different.

    Yeah, I think you’re right.

I’m just curious as to the differences, if any, in plastic quality.

    Looking forward to seeing these!

Hi, I have the empty box for “The Mummy” (glow in the dark version), square box, from 1972. Needs a good home. I don’t sell on ebay, just wander around online. Happened across this site. If anyone is interested, lmk. I can send pictures. Thanks!

Looking for buyer(s). Have a dozen MIB sealed Aurora 1960’s model kits. Action figures, Monsters, super spy car and Alfred E Newman to name a few. All are in great shape. The shrink wrap has adhered to the box on a couple of them.

Can sell the entire lot or individually.

I’m also considering posting on the various auction sites as well.
