Mondo is set to release some fantastic posters for… wait for it… King Kong! The extremely talented Laurent Durieux makes his Mondo debut with these posters and from the moment I heard the news, I knew I would be plunking down the cash for these, probably on eBay since there’s no way I’ll be able to buy them from Mondo directly. The posters will be sold at a screening of the movie at the Alamo Drafthouse on May 28, and then the leftovers will be sold on Mondo’s site, so the pickings will be very slim.
When the initial announcement was made, I clicked through to see the final poster design with the enthusiasm of a toddler going to the zoo, and what I saw gave me pause. King Kong’s got boobs.
I know it sounds ridiculous, but I was crushed. The poster is phenomenal, but those boobs. I couldn’t stop staring at them!
Well, something happened, and it looks like Kong went through a breast reduction procedure. I’m not sure if another layer of ink was added to the printed posters or what, but all is right in the world again.
But wait, there’s more! In addition to the poster shown above, Durieux also hit another home run with this guy…
Wow. This poster WILL find its way into my cave, so he can watch over my King Kong collection.
You can follow Laurent Durieux on Flickr, and of course, you can also follow Mondo on Twitter for details on the sale.

Those are awesome, but I’m excited about her Iron Giant poster that is coming up soon. I have to have it, but I know it’ll be so hard to get!

“His” Iron Giant poster is indeed awesome, but you know me. King Kong is where my money will be going. 😉

Whoops 🙂

WOW! Those are phenomenal! I’m glad Kong had a boob reduction, those could have caused back problems.
I may go for that second one!
Brian says
Ha! I’m with you, that second one is just too fun to pass up.

Cool posters. Agree about boobs; a little odd looking. Do you have any die-cast King Kong stuff, like the Zinclon(?) one? Nice site, by the way. I enjoy seeing your yard sale finds, as I am addicted to that activity as well.

I haven’t found any diecast King Kong toys yet. I know Bullmark released one back in the 70s that I’ve been looking for, but when I find it, it will probably be out of my price range (I’m cheap). Thanks for checking out my yard sale posts–it seems there are a quite a few of us out there. 😉
