Cool and Collected

Collecting pop culture toys, comics, and collectibles collections

July 11, 2012 By 10 Comments

The collecting community is strong

The collecting community is strong and its generosity never ceases to amaze me. Thanks to some fellow collectors/bloggers I have added a few new treasures to my collection over the last few days.

king kong thronester polar lights model kit

Shawn Robare of Branded in the 80’s knows my love for King Kong and Aurora model kits, and sent me this awesome King Kong Thronester kit. You can be sure I will be tearing through that cellophane and putting this kit together (and blogging about it along the way!). Lately, I’ve been itching to make something, and this will fit the bill nicely. Thanks Shawn!

munsters action figures

A couple of weeks ago, I opened up some boxes to see if anyone wanted to buy or trade for anything. I sold a TON of stuff, but the most fun was had with a trade I made with Jboypacman from the Revenge of the Cosmic Ark. I sent him a box of G.I. Joes and King Kong toys, in exchange for this fun assortment. I can’t wait to take some photos of those Munsters figures! There were even more toys in the box, but I was lucky to get this shot before my kids ran off with just about everything else.

pacman namco doll

If you know Jboypacman, you know his online avatar is the smiling Pacman, so seeing that plush toy thrown in the box was a great surprise. That little guy fits in just right on the 80’s toy shelf.

hotwheels car collection

Reis from the Lair of the Dorke Horde sent me that Hotwheels A-Team van not too long ago, and now I have the 1966 Batmobile from Jboypacman. Dare I say, I have a new collection to develop? Yep! I’m now on the lookout for pop culture TV/movie Hotwheels cars. Let the hunt begin!

Must be nice…I have a Monster Cafe open all year round and cannot get any Monster toys. Even for free beer! So you have good friends in the blogging community!

I just bought the kids a trampoline and the seller threw in some toys for me (when her kids weren’t looking). She gave me some Batman stuff and that Grandpa figure. Mine came sans cloak though, bummer.

Those Munsters figures are great. they also came with a bunch of accessories that I didn’t show in the photo. If I come across another cloak, I know where to go. 😉

Awesome stuff Brian. Drooling over that POP Iron Man bobblehead I see hiding behind Skeletor. I just got the Capt. America from a friend and it’s pretty sweet.
