Rare movie posters unearthed at a Pennsylvania estate sale

Later this month, Heritage Auctions will sell a collection of incredibly rare vintage movie posters that were discovered at an estate sale in Berwyck, Pennsylvania. The posters were stuck together with wallpaper paste, since at one time, they were probably glued to the wall of a movie house.

The staff at Heritage had to have been amazed as each layer was separated, and revealed treasure after treasure. There was a total of 33 posters from 1931 and 1932, and because they hadn’t been exposed to light and the elements, most of them were in remarkably god condition.

The posters are expected to fetch more than $250,000.00, but they way things have been selling at Heritage lately, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a much higher number realized. You can view the entire auction at the  Heritage Auctions web site.

Owning that Dracula poster would be something.

I honestly don’t know what I would do if I ever found a treasure trove like this. I’d be tempted to keep them all, but man, that money would probably be too tempting to pass up.

Yeah, I’d keep the Dracula one, but sell the rest.

Wow, what an amazing find. I think I’m with Jon on this, I would probably keep Dracula, Maltese Falcon, Little Caesar and The Public Enemy. I’d sell the rest.

Apparently Nicolas Cage sold a similar Dracula poster a few years ago for $300,000+. I could do a lot with $300k. 😉

I could do a lot with the money the other posters bring. With the Dracula I’d hold out for….here it comes….ONE MILLION DOLLARS!
