This weekend, the LEGO Brickfair returned to the DC suburbs. This is the third Brickfair I have attended, and probably the best one yet.
I took my two boys and and my crummy point and shoot camera, so if you want to see some great pics, check out the Brickfair Flickr page. There was a ton of amazing creations, divided into various themes. My favorite theme was the Steam Punk section, but sprinkled throughout the show, you could find all sorts of references to pop culture. Here are some of my favorites…
It was tough to get a good shot of this Ghostbusters street scene because the crowd around it was intense:
I’ve never seen an episode of Dr. Who but I know what this guy is, so I figured some of you would appreciate it:
This Voltron figure stood at an impressive three feet tall:
Now these 8-bit guys are pretty sweet. Great idea!
Halo was well represented. Here are some minimate-like detailed minifigs:
And my favorite pop culture LEGO creations — Shogun Warriors:
I love going to the Brickfair and this year’s show seemed to be better organized and better attended than ever before, but I do have a plea for the folks behind the show: Please have a kids-only day! All the AFOL’s (that’s Adult Fans of LEGO) make this event hard for the little kids (and their parents) to fully enjoy.
Anyone else make it to the show? What were your favorites?

Wow! Neat stuff. I was never really into legos myself, other than to build ruined buildings for the Joes to fight in, but I always appreciate what others can do. I wonder if those Voltron Lions actually separate?
I’ve never seen the Brickfair before – do you know if they have a Website or anything to see dates for next year?

Hey Chris, they do have a site: http://www.brickfair.com/
Next year’s event in VA is on Aug 4-5.

Figures it would be during Musikfest next year, too. Oh well. I will have to check out that site, though.

I love last photo. I used to watch their anime a lot when I was little.
