Planet of the Apes nod in “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy”

One of the great things about having a blog about retro things is that I can be really late to the party and no one cares. Here’s an example: last night, I happened across an airing of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy on cable. It was right at the famous street fight scene, so of course, I couldn’t look away. There is a hilarious reference to the Planet of the Apes in the scene, where two guys on horseback run down another newsman and catch him in their net.  The music that accompanies that brief moment is also straight out of POTA. So awesome. I have no idea how I missed that before, but it made my evening.
