Last night, somewhere in Texas, all Hell broke loose. A bunch of lucky people were loaded onto buses and delivered to an abandoned shopping mall for a surprise movie. This was the ninth Mondo Mystery Movie and being right before Halloween, you kind of sensed something great was about to happen.
A friend of Cool & Collected, Travis Cross, was (un)fortunate enough to be at the event and was gracious enough to share his pictures that tell the story of what transpired. (Thanks, Travis!)
Buses took the ticket holders to a closed shopping mall with a police escort that stopped traffic along the way. It didn’t take long before something went horribly wrong…
ZOMBIES!!!
Safely off the bus, the crowd worked its way to the movie viewing…
…along with some new friends.
Dawn of the Dead was the mystery movie and George Romero himself made an appearance!
The zombie hoard watched over the patrons menacingly from the upper level.

What an incredible experience for those in attendance. I can’t think of a better way to spend an evening on Halloween weekend. Oh, and since it was a Mondo movie party, there had to be a poster, right? I haven’t been able to find an official image yet, but as you can imagine, there are already plenty of them up for sale on eBay if you want to see it.
Thanks again to Travis for sharing his pics here. You can follow Travis on Twitter @tcross8. Anybody else get to go last night?

Clint! Great job…you guys were terrifying and I have a video of me like a little giddy schoolboy “omg…omg….omg….this is awesome…omg..”. It’ll go viral on youtube I’m sure. Haha.

This is the most awesome thing I have seen all month!
The Closest thing we have is a Walmart. It looks mostly the same, but somehow not quite as fun.
Brian says
Visit it late on a Friday night and I’m sure the experience would be the same. 😉

I’ve been there on a Friday night – more biting, less brains.
