This Calvin & Hobbes comic strip originally graced the pages of the Sunday funnies on November 19, 1986, and now the original artwork for it is up for bid at Heritage Auctions. This is the first strip by Bill Watterson to find its way to the auction block. The only other known example of Watterson’s Calvin & Hobbes art to have been sold at auction was a book cover painting, which sold for $107,550 last February.
This watercolor and ink strip was presented by Watterson as a gift to fellow cartoonist Brian Basset, creator of the popular comic strips Adam@Home and Red and Rover, who has now decided to sell it to another Calvin & Hobbes fan. Auction estimates have this artwork selling for upwards of $125,000!

WOW! I would love to have that! They’d have to move the decimal over a few places though…….
