Cool and Collected

Collecting pop culture toys, comics, and collectibles collections

My bags are packed! I want to see some dinosaurs!

This week, the League told us to pack our bags and visit a place straight out of pop culture. The possibilities are endless, but I kept coming back to the same idea–I wanted to see real-life dinosaurs! (Yes, I am an 8-year old boy in a man’s body.)

What could be better than to see an actual living dinosaur? Sure, I considered visiting Skull Island to get a glimpse of King Kong, and there are dinosaurs there, but then I remembered this…

king kong -- skull island insects

Nope. No Skull Island for me.

My ticket has been purchased, and I am headed to Jurassic Park–you know, before it got all out of hand and overrun by those raptors and compys. No, I want to drive through these gates and marvel at the majestic brontosaurus and triceratops, and I want to run through a field of apatosauruses. J.C. Richard’s poster for Mondo perfectly captures how I think this would feel…

Never mind that T. Rex chasing the jeep. There’s nothing to see here people–move along!

You know, I seriously considered Jurassic Park. Damn. I need to get my act together this week. Everyone’s beating me to the punch.

I’m usually the one left picking up the leavings of everyone else. 😉

I was actually surprised JP wasn’t mentioned yet.

I’m having a bit a tough time with this one. I’ve intentionally avoided reading other posts so I wouldn’t be influenced by their choices… but now I want to go to Jurassic Park, too!

Jurassic Park isn’t too far from you is it? You could make it a day trip. 😉

Sadly it is, Isla Nublar is too far away from my home city 🙁

        Fun Fact:
In the version of JP The Lost World in original english, you heard the man and his son in the boat going to Isla Sorna speaking in spanish. In the version for Latin América, spoken in mexican spanish, the man and his son speak in some native american language I think it is quechua, because the son calls his dad “Tayta”, and that means “Dad” in quechua.

Dan wants to visit Gothom city….You want to visit Jurassic Park….Why does everyone want to visit potential places for death and dismemberment? Not me. I stuck with Frogtown Hollow.

Plus, it looks like JP doesn’t scrimp on the dessert buffet. So it wins in my book.

I can’t believe nobody wanted to visit Nilbog!
If it was good enough for the Waits family, it’s damn well good enough for me!
It’ll be strictly BYOB: Bring your own bologna sandwiches.

Let me tell ya, the next best thing is JP at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure in Orlando. Was my favorite section of the park when I visited there. That was 12 years ago, so not sure how much has changed…had a great water/splash down ride with T-Rex ready to swallow you whole at the top of the water slide. Also had the Tric Encounter which was fun, and of course plenty of photo ops with the big gates and JP Jeeps.

    I hope JP4 gets made.

I’m looking forward to getting down there one of these days. Kids are almost old enough.

Excellent post Brian… but I call foul play! There’s no such thing as a well-behaved Jurassic park!!! Destiny will have you out of that jeep and racing through the mud in no time! Just don’t run into the out-house and you’ll be fine.
