Mondo’s Beneath the Planet of the Apes poster by Ken Taylor

My latest Mondo posters recently arrived and I thought I would show some detailed photos which would explain why I get so excited over their prints. Last month, Mondo released a set of six Planet of the Apes posters, something I have been dreaming of for a long time. I grabbed a Conquest poster on eBay, but was lucky enough to get this one directly from Mondo…

This incredible Beneath the Planet of the Apes screen printed poster is by Ken Taylor. It measures 24″x36″ and had a print run of 415.

Ken Taylor is fast becoming one of my favorite Mondo artists. Much like Tyler Stout’s posters, Taylor’s work is filled with small details that tell the movie’s story.

Cornelius and Zira have never looked better.

The inks used in a screenprint poster such as this one are so much more vibrant in person. These photos are okay, but the colors absolutely leap off the printed page.

The Lawgiver Statue is one of the most iconic images in POTA lore, and of course it makes an appearance in this poster.

And check out this rendering of General Ursus.

There is a limited use of a gold metallic ink, which really highlights the nuclear warhead at the central plotline of the movie.

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Mondo’s posters. As a designer, I appreciate the skill and creativity that goes into each of their prints, and as a movie fan and collector, I just love having something amazing to hang on the wall.
