Today’s post for KONGTOBER features one of my absolute treasures. This is a huge Italian movie poster from the 60’s that shows King Kong swatting down biplanes while towering over Fay Wray (who appears to have passed out). The size ratio on this image is all kinds of wonky, but I’m sure that’s because they wanted to give ample coverage to the damsel in distress–sex sells, remember? Those Italians–they even make King Kong look like a sexy movie!
Italian 2P posters measure 55″ x 78″ and are so large, they were printed on two sheets of paper. These posters might have been taped together or glued to the side of a building to promote the movie.
Now that’s a statement when you hang it on the wall!

“Don’t be alarmed, ladies and gentlemen. Those chains are made of chrome steel.” All month long, I will be showing off King Kong collectibles from my personal collection in a series called KONGTOBER, so if you’re a fan of King Kong and movie monsters, I think you’re going to like what you see.
