1976 was a glorious year to be a King Kong fan. Imagine being able to go down to the liquor store and grab one of these guys off the shelf…
Let’s agree to file this one away under the “WTF” tag shall we? I honestly don’t know why I love this thing as much as I do. What is wrong with me!?! King Kong looks like a shirtless frat boy with one hand clutching a shot glass and the other hand resting on his oversized buckle. And that face!
The back of the decanter is concave which allows the container to fit in your hand surprisingly well while you’re slinging one back. This decanter was made for Jim Beam by the Regal China Corporation to commemorate the 1976 film version of King Kong by Dino de Laurentiis starring Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange.
Now that’s just wrong! (But oh so right.)
“Don’t be alarmed, ladies and gentlemen. Those chains are made of chrome steel.” All month long, I will be showing off King Kong collectibles from my personal collection in a series called KONGTOBER, so if you’re a fan of King Kong and movie monsters, I think you’re going to like what you see.
Great….Just great….another thing I HAVE to have now at Monster Cafe! Imagine it at the bar!
Oh yeah, you definitely need one of these behind the bar!

I actually love old bottles that are shaped like other things. King Kong is the best one I’ve seen by far.
Wow..that looks hideous but I would feature that in my bar…by 2 am I bet its the best looking decanter there!!

I have two of these. I remember as a kid giving my Dad the money to get me my first one, with the deal that I’d buy and he’d get the booze. Dad has since passed on, but imagine my surprise when I recently moved and unboxed one Kong after many many years and finding it still sealed and full. The ten year old aged whiskey from 1976 is now over 50 years old. Thanks, Dad !!
does anybody know the price that this gorila head is today! is it worth ?i found it n my grandamas home

Do you still have 1976 king kong decanter?
