Mmmmm. 36-year old gum. To celebrate the 1976 Dino De Laurentiis King Kong movie, TOPPS released this series of trading cards. I’ll showcase the cards in a future post, but today it’s all about that glorious wax pack art. Kong looks…contemplative? Sad? Bored? Tired? Awesome? Yes, awesome.
Each pack held five cards and a sticker along with the aforementioned stick of chewing gum. There were 55 cards in the set and 11 sticker cards, and these packs came in a box of 36 packs.
And in case you were wondering, I do NOT spread these packs out and roll around in them while sniffing the gum! (Well, maybe once.)

“Don’t be alarmed, ladies and gentlemen. Those chains are made of chrome steel.” All month long, I will be showing off King Kong collectibles from my personal collection in a series called KONGTOBER, so if you’re a fan of King Kong and movie monsters, I think you’re going to like what you see.

Oh thank goodness. I was worried this would just be some sort of tease.
