Frank Onorati is a friend of the site and was lucky enough to attend the opening of the Garbage Pail Kids art show at Gallery 1988 in Melrose, California. The show is currently open and runs through October 1, 2011.
Frank sent over lots of pics. Of course, my favorites were the ones that reference pop culture icons. Behold!
Derek Deal “Michael Mutant”
Rhys Cooper “2nd Hand Rob”
Dave MacDowell “Jules Drools”
Rhys Cooper “Allen Hunter”
Brandon Sopinsky “Yicchy Mickey and the Return Of Icky Mouse”
Joey Spiotto “Alien Ian”
Chuck BB “Savage Stuart”
Eric Tan “Eerie Eric”
These pictures make me want to head to eBay to complete my set of vintage Garbage Pail Kids cards. If you like any of those awesome illustrations from the show, you can buy prints and even some of the original paintings over on the Gallery 1988 site.
A HUGE thanks to Frank for sharing his great pictures!

I love the “Allen Hunter” one, they are all great, but that one is fantastic!

Those. Are. Awesome. The prints are fairly priced for their size. *breaks open piggy bank*

Yeah but how do you choose? This is just a small sampling! Of course, we know what FijiMermaid will be buying. 😉

Just placed my order for an Alien Ian!

I’ve got a nice collection of these. Nowhere near complete but I also have some that are in the original wrapper never opened. I also have a nice Wacky Packages collection too 🙂

I would definitely go for the first four pictured above and the Savage Stuart. Dull Boyde, Grimm Lynn, Termi Nathan, Ultra Vincent, Betel Breuse, AH! Too much awesomeness to choose from. Um, someone help me pick from that list and just, ya know, go ahead and get it for me and overnight it to me. That would be greeeaat. 😉
