I like to consider myself a creative guy, but Christopher Tupa is an illustrator with more creativity in his little toenail than I will ever have. Christopher gained quite a bit of pop culture cred earlier this month with the release of his Goonies Travel Journal, an independently produced travelogue depicting his family’s pilgrimage to Astoria, Oregon for the 25th anniversary celebration of The Goonies, but if you check out his site, you will see that his passion for pop culture goes much further.
I stumbled across Christopher’s site a couple of months ago, and it has been one of my favorite daily internet stops ever since. The reason I keep visiting it is that Chris sells original artwork, usually pen and ink with watercolors, which squarely smacks you in the face with it’s pop culture goodness. You doubt me? Well, take a look at this…
If that’s not the greatest M.U.S.C.L.E. artwork you’ve ever seen then I don’t know what is. And then there is this…
It’s a zombie Smurf Madball, for crying out loud! It doesn’t get any better than that, does it? But wait, there’s more…
and finally…
It should be pretty obvious why I am a fan. All of the illustrations shown above are available on Christopher’s site for purchase, with most of them in the $20-45 range. You can also commission original artwork. The illustrations are priced so reasonably, that it takes a good bit of effort not to hit the “Buy Now” button for each and every one. Head over to Christopher’s site and browse through some of his other illustrations, and if you buy one, let me know what you got!

Having known Christopher for a day, I can certainly agree that he’s super. I may need another day before I can weigh in on the Duper though. 😉
Sam, I saw some of work via Christopher’s tweets and must say that I’m impressed. http://web.me.com/samuelkirkman/Site/OUWANGALAYMAH%21.html
