Cool and Collected

Collecting pop culture toys, comics, and collectibles collections

January 12, 2012 By 19 Comments

By the Power of Craigslist, I have the playsets!

It was a dark and stormy night, and I found myself once again sitting in the car, cold and wet, a fat wad of 20’s in my pocket, wondering why I chose this lifestyle to lead. I watched anxiously for my contact to arrive, only having the vaguest details as to who he was, and what he looked like, but in a few minutes we would be making the exchange…

That’s right folks, it’s Craigslist time! Browsing through the local listings last night, I saw one with the title of “Vintage Toys/Master of the Universe Playsets,” with an image that made my heart skip a beat. I had found it, the holiest of MOTU holy grails: Eternia. And it had friends: Castle Grayskull, Snake Mountain, and the Fright Zone.

The deal was made, and I found myself sitting in a dark empty parking lot in the rain, wondering if I was dreaming the whole thing.

It was no dream. Behold…

masters of the universe eternia playset

It’s been a while since I’ve seen an Eternia playset in the box, and let me tell you, that sucker is enormous!

You can be sure I will post plenty of pictures of these things and after sorting through them, determining what’s missing, and of course playing with them a bit, these playsets will find their way on to eBay. I am so far in the collecting debt hole right now that these MOTU playsets could just be my ticket back to the black. 😉

Holy crap!!! Brian, you never cease to amaze me. This is too awesome. If your Eternia is complete, you should have one hell of a payday! You know, as long as you didn’t pay a pretty penny yourself. 😉

I should do all right on this purchase. 😉 I’m going to have some fun with it first, but then it will go to another collector. I simply don’t have the room for this kind of thing. That Eternia box is almost 3′ across and a foot deep!

What an amazing find. Eternia with box is next to impossible to find. I can’t wait to see pics of these things complete.

The other playsets are awesome in and of themselves.

Normally, I would have upended these boxes to see the goods, but I have refrained so far. I want to savor the moment and am waiting for just the right time. 😉 (And then I’ll tear into them like a kid on Christmas morning!)

So jealous of these goods, Brian. I’ve never put too much faith in Craigslists, but man… if I knew things like this were on there? I would’ve been hitting Craig up a loooong time ago!

They’re out there Rondal, but you have to be quick or someone else will steal the item from under your nose.

I need to figure out where I’m going to set this thing up. Gonna have to clear some serious floor space and then I’ll take plenty of pics. 😉

Very cool playsets. I’m scouring craigslists for a Wayne Foundation or Death Star Playset. No luck on either so far.

Oh man, are you gonna make me ship this to Canada!? These would require their own truck. 😉 I’m open to any and all offers, so drop me an email if you’d like.
