Cool and Collected

Collecting pop culture toys, comics, and collectibles collections

Behold! Those Hostess Transformers cupcakes really do exist!

Last week, I was roaming the grocery store aisles looking for this year’s monster cereals, when I stumbled across Snoballimus Prime!

Hostess has a new marketing gimmick where they partnered with Hasbro for Transformers branded snack cakes. I’m not really sure what they’re promoting since there isn’t a movie or cartoon out there at the moment, but I’m always up for a branding with a pop culture spin!

I don’t think the photo of this snack could be any less appealing. This picture makes last year’s Green Lantern Glo-Balls look tasty.

Shockwave = Chocwave. I imagine that name was a little easier to come up with than “Snoballimus.”

Call me old fashioned, but these cupcakes look like they’re the tastiest.

Seriously, though, I really do love seeing characters on packaging, and it leads me to buy things that I would never normally purchase. Score one for Hostess, and may they keep producing these branded campaigns!

UPDATE: Bumblebee Twinkies exist too!

Oh man, if I’d been working at Hostess I’d of lobbied for the Shockwave cupcakes to have had purple icing and yellow filling, but that’s just the G-Oner in me I guess…

I believe they are advertising the DVD release of the third movie. And I think this is a great promotion for it. However, I have little desire to actually see said movie.
