This is what you might call “old news” but I thought it was still worthwhile to post. Beckett has a new magazine geared towards LEGO fans and collectors, called “Build.” I picked this copy up at Borders (that should give you an idea of how old this news is) because I was happy to see that someone finally figured out that there is a huge market for LEGO fans and collectors. The magazine doesn’t have anything you haven’t already seen on a dozen LEGO blogs or fan sites, but what intrigued me was the listing of LEGO products and their value on the secondary market. Finally.
I’ve bought and sold plenty of LEGO sets and minifigs and can tell you that prices can go sky-high. I don’t believe there has been another printed guide of LEGO prices, and if Beckett has taken on the task, you can be sure that others will soon follow.
There are plenty of How-To articles, and product reviews in the magazine, and they even touch on Mega Bloks and K’Nex toys (briefly). At $9.99 an issue, it’s going to be a tough sell, but I would certainly consider buying a printed price guide for that amount. Someone, get on that!
