I recently received an email from Sharp Entertainment, after they saw one of the collector profiles here on the site. Sharp Entertainment is behind hit shows like Man vs. Food, and Extreme Couponing, and they are putting together a show about extreme collectors–people who have huge collections, are incredibly passionate about their collection, and those who take their collection one step further.
If that sounds like you, send an email to allieh@sharpentertainment.com with some information about your collection – what you collect, why you collect, and how it affects your life. And if you get featured on the show, you better let me know about it!

Yet another reality show the wife will make me watch.
Although, this one I might actually enjoy!

I’d love to finally see a show that celebrates the collector, rather than mock them or label them as hoarders. There used to be a show called “Incurable Collectors,” hosted by John Larroquette, that did this very well.

Or that focuses only on the items themselves, and what they *might* sell for, rather than enjoy the collection for itself.
I remember an episode of American Pickers a few years back where a guy had a barn full of oil cans. Now, I don’t collect them myself, or even much care about that sort of thing, but I can appreciate the beauty of a collection of that size and variety.
I probably could have looked at that collection for hours, but rather than appreciate it for what it was, they pulled maybe half a dozen of the best pieces from it, flashed a made up price on the sceen and moved on.
Maybe this one will be different, though. We can only hope!
