Ain’t It Cool News debuts on the Nerdist Channel

The newly launched Nerdist Channel might really be on to something. I’ve watched a few of their shows this week, but the one that I wil definitely check out regularly is Harry Knowles’ Ain’t it Cool…

aint it coolOkay, so Harry starts off talking about a rare King Kong movie prop, so he obviously had me at “Kong bomb,” but I was legitimately interested in everything else he talked about and I was really impressed with the production quality. Seriously, I want to live in that ‘basement.”  I hope they change up the scenery with each episode so that we can search for posters and props like Easter eggs. I noticed Captain America and Thor posters that were only given out to people involved in the production of the movies, and a cool vintage King Kong poster was hanging on the wall behind the desk.

Harry talks about the upcoming Profiles in History auction and shows off the catalog (sadly, my copy appears to be lost in the mail) — remember, Profiles in History is the group featured on Syfy’s Hollywood Treasure, which should be returning to the air next month. And then he talks about Michael Bay’s Ninja Turtle movie and the Prometheus trailer. Like I said, every topic he hit on, is one that interested me, so I will be checking it out each week.

The major television networks should rightfully be looking over their shoulders, because if we get more entertainment like this fed to us via youtube, their days are numbered.

    I loved it too!

Really liked the production style and the fact that I’m interested in everything he’s talking about.

I also love the fact that his dad is a tiny projectionist in a miniature drive-in!

Ha! I loved that miniature drive-in. You know me, I might have to break out the glue gun and make one of those. 😉

I was totally thinking the same thing. We could race! I’m sure the quality of yours would blow mine away.

        Ready. Set. GO!

Yeah, I think that’s an intentional nod to the Playhouse.

Like i said on twitter, “Its like pee wees playhouse for stoner film geeks. Thumbs up”
I really liked the boiler idea, the table doubling as a mini drive in that shows the video clips and overall, this is the first time i heard harry talk live (well not live but you know what i mean) and i think he has great delivery. Would love to see a longer version of this (mybe 15 minutes). i hope this will turn into something like a creature double feature/mst3000 type show on one of the 800 channels of dread.

“pee wees playhouse for stoner film geeks.” Ha! Yeah, I think the only “complaint” I had was that it was too short. I want more!

This is fantastic. Can’t wait to see more. Is it me or does Harry look like Heat Miser and his Dad like Santa Claus?
