A Collection a Day #7 – Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, originally uploaded by Cool and Collected.
Buck Rogers in the 25th Century is the first TV show I have vivid memories of from my youth. Sure, I watched plenty of kids’ shows and cartoons but this was the first prime time, grownup show I remember being allowed to see.
I had a serious crush on Col. Wilma Deering, but Twiki was my favorite reason to watch, with his spouting out phrases he learned from Buck. The character, Hawk, always creeped me out for some reason. I think it was his swimming cap made of feathers.
When I was a kid, I had the lunchbox pictured above and kicked it down the sidewalk many times on the way to school. I also had all the action figures and played with them until their legs fell off. I snagged both of the Twikis in the photo above in an eBay auction for a great price, since the seller titled the auction as “Tiki Dolls.” The large figure winds up and walks while the small one doesn’t do anything but fall over.
I have collected so many different things that I thought it would be fun to try and photograph a collection a day and see how far I can get.
