A Collection a Day #56 – James Bond movie posters, originally uploaded by Cool and Collected.
If you’re not a fan of James Bond movies, well I don’t think I want to know you anymore. James Bond is an enigma. What other pop culture icon has lasted as long as him and still managed to remain at the top of the class? Sure, some of the movies are less than spectacular, and some stretch the bounds of reality just a bit (Denise Austin as a rocket scientist, huh?), but if you suspend reality for an hour and forty minutes, you’re sure to have a good time.
There are a ton of James Bond movie poster collectors, and the prices for posters from the older films reflects that fact. I am pretty confident that I will never own a Sean Connery as James Bond movie poster — unless I find one in a frame behind a Picasso I buy at a yard sale.
I have collected so many different things that I thought it would be fun to try and photograph a collection a day and see how far I can get.
CT (from Nerd Lunch) says
There were a string of Bond movie posters painted by artist extraordinaire Robert McGinnis. That guy did amazing work for book covers, posters, and all sorts of other things. When I think about starting new collections, I always consider starting a collection of printed material with his art. Bond posters would be on that list.
