A Collection a Day #4 – Robots!, originally uploaded by Cool and Collected.
Original robot toys from the 50’s and 60’s can go for thousands of dollars. Some of the most collectible robots were built in post WWII Japan by companies such as Horikawa, Yoshiya, Ichida, and Asah.
Among the most sought-after toy robots are the “Gang of Five,” which includes Giant Sonic, Machine Man, Target Robot, Radicon Robot and Non-Stop Robot. Machine Man is the most valuable of the five.
The little guys pictured above are tin windup toys that look like they are plotting annihilation behind their painted grins. Unfortunately, these are all reproductions, but I still love them. It looks like they could probably use a good dusting, though.
I have collected so many different things that I thought it would be fun to try and photograph a collection a day and see how far I can get.
