A Collection a Day #35 – Vintage space toys and games, originally uploaded by Cool and Collected.
Space themed toys are something I am always on the lookout for in my travels. Finding them is a rare event, but every now and then I get lucky. If something has a bubble-headed astronaut on it, you can bet it’s going home with me.
Flash Gordon, Tom Corbett, Buck Rogers – those are my boys.
The ray gun and wind-up robot in this picture are recent toys produced in the finest sweatshops of China, but the rest of the items are authentic. The robot is about six inches tall so you can see how big the target game and the Operation Moon pinball game are. They’re big and bold and beautiful!
The Flash Gordon puzzle is in a paper envelope, which I thought was kind of different. I’ve seen a few other puzzles that were printed in that series, but this one is my favorite. (Of course, if I find those other ones, I won’t pass them by.)
I have collected so many different things that I thought it would be fun to try and photograph a collection a day and see how far I can get.
