A Collection a Day #29 – Vintage Movie Posters: Allan “Rocky” Lane, originally uploaded by Cool and Collected.
One of my largest collections, in both size and quantity, is movie posters. I’ve held off on photographing any so far simply because I couldn’t figure out how to effectively photograph a group of them. I think I still need to figure that out after seeing how this image turned out.
Movie posters, or one sheets, are big, The typical size is 27″ x 41″ so I had to move quite a bit of furniture to take this shot. Their “bigness” is one of the things i love about movie posters, especially vintage posters. They really make a statement when you see them hanging on the wall next to all your other puny pictures and prints. The colors are so vibrant, the images literally jump off the paper.
I’ve always loved a good western, and these Republic Picture posters for Allan “Rocky” Lane movies and serials are some of my favorites. The movies may have been bad, but the posters get the Oscar.
I have collected so many different things that I thought it would be fun to try and photograph a collection a day and see how far I can get.

I am looking for Lobby cards of Allan Rocky Lane movies – and ONLY his “Rocky” movies (1947-53)
can you help?
Brian says
Hi Jim- I don’t have any Allan Rocky Lane lobby cards, so I can’t help you there. Your best bet would probably be eBay, but http://www.allposterforum.com/ is certainly worth checking. Emovieposter.com is another option — their stock is constantly changing but they do have lobby card auctions fairly often. Happy hunting!

are you selling your Rocky lane 27×41 posters?
Brian says
I’m not actively selling my posters, but if the price was right, I might be up for a sale or a trade.
