A Collection a Day #27 – Wax packs

I sooooo want to rip these open. Collecting wax packs has been a fun hobby for years, mainly for baseball and sports trading cards, but my preference is for the great pop culture time capsules from the 70’s and 80’s. The artwork on these packs is pretty rough, probably due to the fact that printing on waxy paper is difficult, but the cheesy images actually make them that much cooler in my opinion.

Wax packs come with several cards and a stick of gum. For someone who encapsulates everything in plastic to preserve it for future generations, I’m fairly neurotic about how the gum must be corroding the cards. I often wonder what the gum would taste like after being in a drawer for 30 years. I don’t remember it tasting very good when it was fresh.

I have collected so many different things that I thought it would be fun to try and photograph a collection a day and see how far I can get.
